A luxury inn surrounded by a beautiful Japanese garden
Established in 1925, this purely Japanese-style luxury inn has a Japanese garden roughly 3,300 square meters in size. According to the proprietress, the prototypical Japanese landscape can be found in Hagi, and the prototypical Hagi landscape can be found in Tomoe. A wide stone-paved corridor leads from the lobby with its warm wood décor to the guest rooms with a view of the garden along the way. All guest rooms are Japanese-style rooms with a secluded atmosphere. Guests can enjoy a relaxing time in a refined space secluded from everyday life. The VIP room, which has the name Kao, is a faithful reproduction of the guest room that was once chosen to accommodate the Showa emperor. It features hanging scrolls and furnishings by Matsubayashi Keigetsu, a master Japanese painter from Hagi. The seasonal banquet meals are spectacular, befitting of the room’s elegance and view of the garden. Ingredients from the land and sea of bountiful Hagi are carefully selected and prepared using the traditional knowledge and techniques inherent in Japanese cuisine. We also invite guests to enjoy the beautiful garden at night when it is lit up.
